The NAMI/Mental Wellness Center Public Policy Committee works toward improvement of mental health services for people living with mental health disorders and their families. We study and take positions on proposed legislation, generating support at the grass roots level, communicating positions to elected legislative representatives. At the County level, group members participate as stakeholders in the public mental health system, interacting with county departments, the County CEO’s office, the Board of Supervisors, serving on committees and task forces, as appropriate.  The committee serves as an authoritative community resource for information about public policy issues related to mental health.  We advocate on issues of concern to our members, collaborating with other community organizations.
Our meetings, open to all, take place the first Monday of each month, from 11:30am-1:00 pm, at the Mental Wellness Center (2nd floor conference room), 617 Garden St. Santa Barbara. For more information, or to be added to our email information list, contact Committee Chair and NAMI Board member, Lynne Gibbs, at gibbslyn2@gmail.com.
