Notes from 2019 NAMI National Conference in Seattle, June 19–22

NAMI Leadership Summit: Forging Our Future – Unveiling of NAMI’s new five-year strategic plan (2020-2025): Created with stakeholder input to align the 600+ affiliates and built on NAMI’s current roles of establishing a nationwide community of individuals/families affected by mental illness, providing education/support to them, advocating for equity/inclusion/quality care, and leading the conversation to foster greater awareness/understanding in larger community. 

Vision Statement:“NAMI envisions a world where all who are affected by mental illness live healthy, fulfilling lives supported by a community that cares.” 

Mission Statement: ”NAMI provides advocacy, education, support, public awareness so all affected by mental illness can live better lives.” 

Values:Hope, Inclusion, Empowerment, Compassion, Fairness. 

Goals: Get people help early; get people best possible care; divert people from criminal justice involvement.

Affirmation: Everything we do is “peer informed”
