Fall 2018 NAMI Family to Family Class Set to Begin Wednesday, September 5

If you or a friend have a family member living with a mental health disorder, the NAMI Family to Family class can be tremendously helpful in understanding mental illness and how to more effectively cope with the impact on the entire family. Family to Family is a 12 class program taught by specially trained and NAMI certified family members who have dealt with issues surrounding mental health disorders in their own families.  Past participants have found the program invaluable in helping them to--- not just understand mental health disorders and how they affect the individual who lives with them and their family--- but also how to best support both the ill individual and themselves.  For more information or to register, contact Family Advocate Ramona Winner:  884-8440, Ext. 3206; rwinner@mentalwellnesscenter.org

Highlights from 2018 National NAMI Convention
Panel: Members of Santa Barbara NAMI who Attended Convention

Panel members will review and discuss key presentations, workshops and other sessions from the June 28 - July 1 convention in New Orleans.  These overviews will cover topics ranging from cutting edge research talks, to novel clinical mental health treatments, to personal stories of illness and recovery, to most current NAMI advocacy efforts.  The panel will also describe wht it's like to experience and be part of the larger NAMI family.  A handout summarizing these topics will also be provided. Again, this year, we are fortunate to have had a large contingent of our affiliate attending the convention (Kathy Culbertson, Tom Franklin, Anne Greaney, George & Milly Kaufmann, and Marian McKenzie).
