February - March Educational Family Discussion Group Topics

Each week from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm in the NAMI Conference Room on the second floor of the Mental Wellness Center, 617 Garden St. Santa Barbara, NAMI Family to Family facilitators will lead discussions on various topics of interest to families who struggle with issues related to a family member’s mental health disorder.  Each week a different topic is discussed using informational handouts as a discussion guide.  These sessions are free, open to the public and don’t require advanced registration.

February 5 - Understanding the Role of Sleep in Maintaining Health and Tips on Sleep Hygiene
February 12 - Understanding the Concept of “Brain Retraining” (Neuroplasticity) in Mental Health Treatments
February 19 - How to Deal with Anger in Someone with a Mental Health Disorder
February 26 - Understanding Fear and Anxiety in our Loved Ones    

March 5 - Understanding LPS Conservatorships
March 12 - Understanding Assisted Outpatient Treatment (Laura’s Law)
March 19 - Understanding Anosognosia
March 26 - Understanding the role of Empathy in Mental Health Recovery
